  • Lose Pounds without pills

I wanted to lose pounds- at least 50 of the 200 lbs I have! I tried dieting, but I used to get hungry and eat more than I skipped. I was scared of diet pills, with all those side effects. With several diet programs and pills out there, I didn’t know which ones were good and worked.

When I went to my doctor to ask how to lose pounds, he sat with me and talked to me. He took the time to ask me every single thing that I ate throughout the day. He said “Let’s make only a few changes, and set a small goal to reach, say 5-10 lbs over a couple of months”. He also said diet pills work only in the short term, and once you stop them, the weight comes back. The only thing that would work long term is eating sensibly and exercising, he said.

This is what I did to lose pounds. I cut out hamburgers, French fries, and regular sodas. I switched to diet sodas, the taste was horrible, but I stuck to it. I reduced pizzas, cake, and candy. I love fried chicken and fried rice, but had to cut them out too. My doctor suggested that I eat whole grain bread, baked chicken with no skin, baked fish, lots of vegetables with fiber so they would fill me up, at least 64 oz of water. For exercise he suggested that even if I could walk 20 min a day three days a week, that would be fine. That was easy to do. I dreaded getting up on the treadmill, I could never run on it for more than five minutes!

To lose pounds is very difficult! I stuck to the plan as much as I could. Once a week, I indulged on a cheeseburger, fries and coke. The other week I got myself a pepperoni pizza. Sundays was my day off, so on that day, I relaxed and ate what I craved. After one month, I dropped ten pounds! I was thrilled. I continued with the plan and after about six months, I lost about thirty pounds! I had realized I had been eating all the wrong things in my life. After I changed what I was eating, it was difficult to get used to the not-so-me tastes, but it was not bad. Like I said, I did cheat here and there and now and then. Even with that, six months later, I had lost thirty pounds, and I feel great! It’s not much, but I’m sure if I continue with my not new diet, but new lifestyle, I will lose even more.

To lose pounds and not feel I have lost on life’s pleasures is a great feeling! Oh, the “exercise” makes me feel a lot better too. I have not moved on to a gym or treadmill, I still only walk, now about 30 min 3-4 times a week. I feel that if I could do this, anybody can! It’s a little difficult, but not terrible. Get started, and email me if you need any help!
