I am a drug addict and an alcoholic. Only thing is, I am in recovery and have been for over 3 1/2 years today but all I really have is today and I must constantly remind myself of that even as I write this. To stay sober it takes a lot, if you think about it though, it really doesn't. I used to spend every waking moment thinking and finding ways of getting money to get the next high, stealing, using others as a means to get it and not thinking twice about it.
I used to be an awful person, driven by the need to use and one day it all changed. That was the day I decided to ask for help, though it just came out of my mouth. At age 19, I had hit my bottom and cried out to my mom I needed to go to rehab or I would smoke meth again, or whatever I could get my hands on. She called my aunt who got sober 7 years ago at the time and through a 12 step program has been able to stay that way and I actually listened to what she had to say, she 12 stepped me. Less than two weeks later I was on my way to rehab. What can I say but it worked and continues to work each day I get on my knees and pray for sobriety.
