To get into a women's workout program for a woman in her 30s with a busy lifestyle, including a full time job, 2 kids, and church activities is very difficult, let me tell you!
If I wasn’t working or going to the grocery store, I have to take my daughter to dance class, my son to karate, or some other family or church event. The schedule was packed like crazy, and still is. With all of these demands, most women like me tend to put themselves and their health needs last. Many times, I would like to get into a typical women’s workout program by getting into the gym at least a few times a week. I would go to the gym for a few weeks, getting very determined about my progress, and then I would have something happen to throw me off track, and I would be back to my old habits. Struggling once again to get into the gym, I spotted a contest that my gym was running, and it appealed to me with a free tee shirt. Yes, just a simple free tee shirt is all it took for me.
So I found out how to participate in this women’s workout program, and it gave me specifics. I had to earn 100 points within the duration of the contest to get the tee shirt. The contest began around Thanksgiving and ran through about New Years Day. A good time, because most of us are eating quite a bit around that time! This was perfect because it gave me a head start for that New Year’s Resolution! I had to do things like strength train twice a week, go to classes twice a week, and other things that are perfect for any women’s workout. Cardiovascular workouts, working out with a friend, and swiping my membership card four times in one week were all things that counted towards my points total.
Surprisingly, I found some women’s workout classes and exercise ideas that I had never tried before. I loved them! I found classes that I couldn’t stand to miss, instructors that I fell in love with, new friends that I could be accountability buddies with, and more. I learned how strength training and flexibility training can improve many parts of my life. I can’t say enough how much this has changed my life. I am a bit of an exercise nut now, and I used to tease my mom for it! Now I’m the bigger nut! But hey, I feel great, dropped a couple of dress sizes, and I know I can do something if I can stick to it! Email me if you have any questions, you can join a local gym or club and start away too!
